Re: Aggiornare a kde 4.7.1

Re: Aggiornare a kde 4.7.1
From http://alien.slackbook.org/ktown/4.7.1/ can read
"You have to run Slackware-current in order to use these packages. I do not
give any guarantees in case you are going to use these packages on Slackware
13.37 - they may just work, or they may leave you with a broken desktop...
who knows. If you want KDE 4.7.1, then you better go and get current!"
Or if someone wants to try kde-4.7.0 which is very close to kde-4.7.1 there is Slackel which is fully compatible with Salix except kde-4.5.5 and different theme. It is the quick method for someone to install and use kde-4.7.0. Slackel 13.37 KDE-4.7.0 is stable and can be used as a productive system.( In fact, i use Slackel 13.37 KDE-4.7.0 64bit to write this message) Also after installation can install with gslapt the kde-l10n-it package and have kde in Italian.
I have in mind to prepare slackel-13.37-kde-4.7.1 when i will have time.
Not tried the following, but i suppose, someone using this repository in salix-13.37-kde-4.5.5. (http://www.slackel.gr/repo/)
==========
Put this to slapt-getrc
#The Slackel repository
SOURCE=http://www.slackel.gr/repo/x86_64/13.37/:CUSTOM for 64 bit
or SOURCE=http://www.slackel.gr/repo/i486/13.37/:CUSTOM for 32 bit
=============
can upgrade salix-13.37-kde-4.5.5 to salix-13.37-kde-4.7.0
having in mind to remove these packages after
On Slackware 32-bit:
# removepkg polkit-kde-1
# removepkg kdebase-runtime
# removepkg kdebase-workspace
# removepkg kdebindings
# removepkg kdeedu
# removepkg konq-plugins
On Slackware 64-bit:
# removepkg polkit-kde-1
# removepkg kdebase-runtime
# removepkg kdebase-workspace
# removepkg kdebindings
# removepkg kdeedu
# removepkg konq-plugins
and of course reboot the system.
As, Inserviente, pointed out, it is for educational purposes only and curiosity, because even the version 4.5.5 works great!
So, he will not use it in a productive Salix system.
Even better can install the system in a Virtual Box and check how it works.
