Salix to Slack

Post by nankura »

Hey guys

Ok basically im wondering how id go about setting up salix similiar to a minimal slackware installation with XFCE. i noticed you guys have a core option etc. and im wondering how much is altered from slackware itself. system configs. setups. kernels. etc

And what steps i would take to have it similiar to a basic slackware install

The main reason im doing this is because you guys offer a nice, small iso to download. while slackware is 4GB. i cant afford to keep download 4GB iso's for each linux setup i want to do with slackware

Choose Basic installation.
Basic: This installs only a basic desktop environment, with very few extra applications installed on top, such as a web browser and the gslapt package manager. Ideal for advanced users that would like to install a lightweight Xfce

No need to wonder any more! ;)
As Salix is fully backwards compatible with Slack in 99.99% of the time sys configs & setups are the same... Kernel is 100% of the time same as in Slack! (Salix 13.37 & Slack 13.37, Salix 13.0 & Slack 13.0...)
Enjoy easy slacking with Salix! Like djemos said choose Basic installation. Cheers!
