[solved] Salix 13.37 Xfce 64bit boot with broken screen

Post by jpg153 »

Hi,

I have just installed Salix 13.37 64bit on my brand new i3 machine (Asus board with P55 chipset, SSD, nvidia video card (DVI to VGA converter)).
Installation (with no extra commands) went fine. Lilo installed in mbr.
When the system gets into video mode, the screen comes up but is fully distorted and absolutely unusable.
Mouse is working and keyboard seems working as well (currently both USB devices).
All I can do is to press the reset button - system goes back into text mode and is working fine til shutdown.

I assume there is a simple problem with setting the video card to standard VGA/VESA output, but how?
Or is there any other trick?

Thanks in advance.

Edit:

ok, found some posts here so managed to remove the 'noveau' package and after a reboot all is fine.
Now its time to install the right nvidia driver.
Regards Gruß
