Trident Media Guard

Post by deja69 »

Just curious about when i try to access the SalixOS website...i cannot access it without accepting a Trident Media Guard cookie,is this something out of your control and a consequence of the French HADOPI law,or is there something wrong with my internet settings?
Anything to be concerned about?

Hmm ...im being redirected to a server based in Oslo,Norway for a company called Ventelo AS,which is simply a hub for the Ripe Network Coordination Centre...it helps connect IPv6..all very sensible.
Just with some historical stuff with TMP and data breaches,i thought you might need to be made aware, just in case ..im not sure whether i should feel annoyed by it or comforted that the way its implemented is candid :?
Sorry

Yes, it is
Sadly, in France, we are now tracked, we don't have freedom anymore to do what we want on the net.

Yes, I think so

Thanks for the reply fredg,

Yes,i realised all the things are no different to visiting ANY website, just seems if anything its more transparent when i come to SalixOS,why i dont know :?
Unfortunately,im on a shared internet connection, and the administrator has even less technical know-how than i do,which is a challenge to do ;)

And yes,the privacy factor affects us all,and the only answer is to become engaged politically, regardless of which side of the fence your beliefs lie.
Personally,i am a believer in 'habeas corpus' ;)

It would just be pleasant to visit a airport website to inquire, divulge no personal details whatsoever, but find an array of flight, vacation and travel insurance offers in my social media inbox...the marketing companies think they are being helpful, but over a length of time, the psychological symptoms feel akin to criminal harrassment :(

Lets hope we can find a solution together, that is sensible-FUDmeisters tend to suck a lot of air out of the room ;)

Regards :)

This is an outrage! Damned evil politicians and the rest of the sheeple who don't do anything about it.

Maybe zAchAry,we DO need safeguards, but thats a long way from intrusion
Plus it begs the question, who are these safeguards guarding, seems these big multinationals and government department seem to lose track of 'average' peoples data on a regular basis, their CEO's,financial backers and shareholders seem conpicuously untouched :? ..but there you go,another question, another time.

Its worth being tracked coming to SalixOS,its no different to ANY other website in any other country that im being tracked also.
However this website has some knowledable gurus, the more i find out about Slackware and Salix the more i am liking it,Salix is just enough help to make the results seem possible, without creating a totally complicated 'simple' method that confuses the issue and doesnt advanced your learning in the long run.

Slapt-get and Sourcery/Slapt-Src for the Slackbuilds is really neat, its clarity has made me see that tiny speck on the horizon called mastering and the great gulf of thought i need to do to get there, which is preferable to a shiny public transit system which ends up taking me in an entirely different direction

One unforeseen consequence of the SalixOS website, its potentially a great place to learn German,French,Greek,Russian and Italian

Tiny baby steps, but loving it :)
