Need help on iBus

Post by garzabo »

Hi everyone, I am new to Salix and now using Salix 13.37 Xfce, so far the OS work great for me.
The problem I encountered was, sometime I need to enter Chinese characters, iBus was launch everytime I login, I added "Chinese - Pinyin" in the iBus Preferences (Input Method) section, when I press Control+space to switch input method, the iBus icon at system tray change to Pinyin, all this seem normal, but when I started to type, the iBus icon immediately change back to a keyboard, so I am not able to enter Chinese characters, am I missing anythings?

Try with SCIM and after I installed SCIM, I am able to enter Chinese characters from Mousepad by right clicking inside Mousepad window and select"Input Methods -> SCIM Input Method", but I can't do that from Firefox. Any help will be appreciated.

hi garzabo :) welcome

I tried to search for a similar problem on the web,but maybe the Salix devs will be more knowledgable :ugeek:
Check iBus configuration...Firefox plugins/extensions are not conflicting?
I do not know much more.

Try iBus main wiki too https://code.google.com/p/ibus/

Good luck!

Perhaps your apply the change only to the current window (and hence the current window could be a panel) instead of the application-wide, which is, I think, what you expect it to behave. It can be tuned in the preferences of Ibus.
Furthermore, ibus, when installed, should put a file in /etc/profile.d/ibus.sh. This file should be executable, and your session should be then restarted.

Hopes this help.

[Edit] Humm just tested. I works ok for my anki japanese input method, but I have the same problem as you with chinese pinyin input method.
Maybe there is a problem in the compilation/configuration of this input method plugin. Ill check with tsuren.

Hi JRD,

Thanks for your reply and helps, try to use "Chinese - py (m17n)" instead, it work fine, usually I use "Chinese - Pinyin" (on other distros). Once again thank you very much. :)
