Can`t finish installation

When salix-live-setup.py (can`t remember exactly how it call) almost done (after it stops copying some files to HDD) progress bar stops and nothing happening. No HDD activity, and reading data from USB flash drive stops too, because LED indicator not blinking. But live installer steel sitting in RAM and eating all my CPU cores but no useful work. I`ve tried to run installer from console but no useful output. I was installing Salix from USB flash drive because I can`t start KDE from live CD (right after succesful login screen just blink and I am retuturning to the login screen. Failsafe session works fine, but as my DVD is damaged installer wasn`t lauched). Installer copying something about 2 Gb. I am having salixlive-kde-13.37-64. My hardware: NVIDIA 9600 GT, Intel Core 2 Duo E5400, 1 Gb DDR2, motherboard is G31M-ES2Lfrom Gigabyte. I was trying to install Salix on two different HDD but resut is the same.

Did you check the md5sum of the *.iso? Did burn the *iso to a CD or extract the *.iso to a USB stick or use unetbootin?

I did not checked the md5sum.
I mount iso (with help of mount command) then copyied to USB flash drive and then run SHELL script.

You can try opening the *.iso with an archiver like Xarchiver or file-roller and extracting it to the USB stick. Then run the /boot/install-on-USB.sh script

Using with "mount" is fine. But maybe you should first check the md5sum.
Well, what kind of disks and configuration do you have? Could also be a bug in the installer.

First, in case you didn't notice, the specific md5 checksum of the specific ISO you mentioned is not the same as Tim CowChip mentioned in this topic. So please find the correct official md5 checksum of the adequate exact ISO you downloaded and compare them.

Your problem could be related to the type of drive (and how it is connected to the system), so if you can't solve this with the above suggestions, please provide more specific info.

Another possible issue could be your NVIDIA card (less likely according to the stage where the problem shows up, but who knows...).

I wonder, could it be possible that "something" is waiting for your input to continue (and you are not seeing it)?

How much time are you waiting, from the instant the process seems to be stopped until you actually stop it?

BTW, "only" 1GB of RAM for that specific edition is not the best fit IMHO. Maybe you should try with the x32 bits edition of Salix KDE, or even using some other desktop environment from the several Salix x32 ISOs.

This is irrelevant to the installation process...even if true when actually running the final environment.But if he was capable or running the Live CD, and feel it smooth enough, he will have the same upon installation.

Absolutely and that is my guess (but maybe I'm wrong).
The questions asked by Adys are a good start to find out why the installation process didn't terminate.

With md5sum all is fine. It`s possible that installer waiting for some input, because when focusing on the installer window and pressing Esc key window dissapering but installer staying active in the process list. I tried to install Salix on the SATA HDD (one is SAMSUNG HD 160JJ and another is WDC WD1600JS-22N). All of them are in native AHCI mode. Also I tried with swap partition enabled (2 Gb). Installer doing something during 12 minutes. After that I wait something about 50 minutes. I want to try one more time to launch installer from konsole and messages here.
