Post by Andyun »

Hello!
Tell please, is it possible to install video driver for Intel GMA 500 chipset (Asus EeePC 1201HA) in Salix OS 13.37? Probably needed the package xf86-video-psb, where can I get it?

Video is very slow, even when dragging windows. Incorrect resolution 1024x768 or 800x600 (must be 1366x768 (16:9)). I tried several other distros - nothing helps.

Where is the log file?

As far as I know, there are no drivers for this card for linux and there will probably never be. Bad choice of hardware.

It's not just a matter of bad driver support, the hardware is terrible as well. I've used Windows XP on a GMA500 netbook, it's like watching a slide show.

Yes, I too was surprised when discovered that the graphics card in Windows handles video is not better than in Linux (from the tested distributions is best Linux Mint 13, but there is one problem: crackling microphone in the Skype program).
