Hello to everyone and kudos to team Salix for a marvellous 14.0 release! I'm a new user of Salix and this is my first slackware-xfce based distro. So far everything is working fine apart from a small niggle! This morning i needed to input a special character so i tried to open 'Character Map' from 'Accessories' but nothing happened so i opened 'Terminal' & the command "charmap" gave me the following error,
"charmap: error while loading shared libraries: libgtk-3.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
Now do i need to install libgtk-3.so.0 to solve this problem? If yes, then how?

Run gslapt. you will find it on xfce menus.
Search on gslapt for gtk+3
and install it
Same can be done from an xterm
su
slapt-get -i gtk+3
Search on gslapt for gtk+3
and install it

This is a snippet from the Salix Xfce14.0 release announcement by gapan,
".....with the mess that GTK+3 is, will continue to be in the future), we have decided to stay only with GTK+2 applications for the default installation and GNOME applications have been replaced by their MATE and Xfce counterparts."
Now that i have installed gtk3+ will it have any negative impact on my salix installation? Just asking?

Some applications need gtk+3 to work. Other applications work with gtk+, gtk+2
So there is no problem to have installed gtk+, gtk+2 and gtk+3

Argh, how didn't anyone notice this during all the testing? It's obvious that this is a (major) bug.
