Hi friends,
I am testing Salix LXDE 13.37 64bits.
Sorry for my ignorance, but where is the trash...?
Thanks.
Trash lxde
Re: Trash lxde
Sorry but I am still looking for the trash...
Is this a bug?
Salix Lxde don't have this function?
How to restore a deleted file?
I don't have the following directory:
/home/username/.local/share/Trash
Weird...
Thanks.

Re: Trash lxde
No, lxde in 13.37 doesn't have trash, at all. PCManFM, the file manager for lxde in 13.37 doesn't have that functionality.

Thanks gapan.gapan wrote:No, lxde in 13.37 doesn't have trash, at all. PCManFM, the file manager for lxde in 13.37 doesn't have that functionality.
I can't believe it. Really...?
Then how can I restore a deleted file?
Re: Trash lxde
You can't. If you delete it, it's gone.
The trash functionality was introduced in PCManFM 1.0, so trash in lxde is going to work in salix 14.0, but the one in 13.37 just doesn't.

Then I have to wait for salix 14.0 or to be very careful deleting files.
When will be available salix 14.0, more o less, you know Gapan?
Re: Trash lxde
I ran into the same 'problem' myself (still 13.37 lxde), and I think you can add this (I checked around quickly with lxde, lubuntu, and the arch folks), but don't hold me to that. I never got around to trying to though, and the horror scenario of losing something irreplacable hasn't happened. Its convenient to have a trash, and we are certainly used to seeing it, but we also are a bit spoiled by it I am starting to think, and it creates bad habits (like deleting without thinking, or not having backups). So I have become used to not having a trash in the meantime, its not as big of a thing as I thought.Aleph wrote:Ugh...gapan wrote:You can't. If you delete it, it's gone.

What bothered me more was the virtual 'my computer' icon on the desktop that was impossible to remove, and I installed a different PCManFM, a last version of the developer who went on to write SpaceFm, which I think might be better manager to move to anyway on a light 14.0 desktop. But also with trash as a plugin, not standard.
For the "fleet of finger" so to speak.

Re: Trash lxde
Hi sojurn,
I will be careful about delete files until new Salix 14 lxde comes out.
My machine is powerful enough, a Lenovo T61, 4gb Ram, " at 2,6 Ghz but I like lxde.
Now I am looking for something really stable, without surprises. People talk well about the Salix stability. I'm going to test more thoroughly.
Thanks!
(Sorry for my English)
Yes, a permanent icon is not a good idea, I think...What bothered me more was the virtual 'my computer' icon on the desktop that was impossible to remove, and I installed a different PCManFM, a last version of the developer who went on to write SpaceFm, which I think might be better manager to move to anyway on a light 14.0 desktop. Re: Trash lxde
Lubuntu and arch had the trash feature in PCManFM for some time now, because they had packaged an unstable development version of PCManFM. That may had made the trash work, but also caused several issues, more important than trash not working. In Salix we prefer to stick with stable and tested releases of software, even if they are missing some new features.
