"Starting HAL" takes too much time to load during boot...

Post by pr0t0typee »

during the boot system , "Starting HAL" takes 1:35 minutes to load, and "Loading OSS ALSA" about 1:30 minutes ...

..., it is normal? i installed Salix OS several times ... and the problem persist ...
my version is KDE 13.37 32 bits, i have a AMD Athlon X2 3.1 Ghz and 4 GB RAM ...
in total time it takes about 4 minutes to boot the system with this OS.

You can recompile your kernel, using a newer version. Example try with version 3.0.101

No, this is not normal at all. I would suggest taking a look at /var/log/messages; there will probably be error messages.

Edit: I'd also suggest doing the above before resorting to measures like recompiling the kernel. Wasting time = not fun.

You probably have hardware issues. Try unplugging all devices first and reboot.
