Install size of Salix Basic install?

Post by linus72 »

Just wondering what is the install size in MB/GB of the basic X install??
and what if anything can be stripped from that?

I dont need any kind of make stuff, no compiling stuff, etc
no office, no text stuff
just desktop, browser, and normal stuff like file manager, text editor, etc

Thanks

Not much :)

You'll still need gcc as dep for other software. You probably can remove stuff like svn, make, automake,...
But this won't free much space. Only few MB.

Not included in basic install mode anyway.

The biggest thing you can strip is xorg input and video drivers you don't use. And gcc-g++, if you keep cxxlibs. Everything else will only just strip a couple of MB, not more.
