help!

OMG! I saw that updates were available so I clicked to update then went to work .Installed had completed I rebooted then had sound and able to play movies .However now Firefox does not work and when I go to log out that comes up as erorr message as well.

You are going to have to help us out a little more if you want any of us to help. Try starting up Firefox from a terminal and post any errors messages that come up in the terminal. As for the log out errors, we will also need those messages.

Also you could try updating your system again using gslapt or slapt-get. Maybe something didn't get updated properly.
