abiword does not start

Post by jsfarinet »

Abiword (and also gnumeric and presumeably other programs too) does not start. Starting it out of aterminal i get the following error message:

Code: Select all

[~]$ abiword

(abiword:2935): Gtk-WARNING **: Style property "border-top-left-radius" is not gettable

(abiword:2935): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: gtype.c:4239: type id `0' is invalid

(abiword:2935): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: can't peek value table for type `<invalid>' which is not currently referenced
Abgebrochen
Any ideas?

PS. I remember, once i had (trying out jwm windowmanager) on a ppc machine also a problem with rounded corners but i do not remember anymore how i solved that :-(

I think I have seen something similar before and it was a problem caused by the GTK theme. Try switching back to the default theme.

Correct, with Clearlooks-Phenix, abiword starts.

But strangely, that theme works flawlessly on another machine with a very similar setup ("only" that's debian based (and it's a very nice - dark - theme :D ). I'll check out; may be there is some engine missing (??).

Maybe, or maybe the theme is badly written and it requires a very specific version of GTK to function properly.
