ldconfig message

Post by bitvast »

I've added a shared object to /usr/lib but it seems it isn't being found (it's in relation to a library required by FreeBASIC), and running ldconfig I get this message:
ldconfig: /usr/lib/libarmmpeparser.so.0 is for unknown machine 40.
Any suggestions?

Whatever you're trying to do, stop doing it because you're doing it wrong. And revert any change you have made in your system (if you can, otherwise you have a broken system and there's no turning back from that).

You need to read up on package management. The startup guide is linked from the main page.

Sheesh. Thanks for the help. It's not an issue of package management, and I've read through all the docs but it doesn't address my problem. Never mind, there are plenty of other distros...

One would think that installing software is exactly what package management is all about. But you seem to know better. Good luck messing up your system in all those other distributions of yours (hint: what you're trying to do will not work with any distribution on that same PC).
