No netconfig in full install

Post by neRok »

when i installed both my computers with salix full install, i was never prompted for any host name or anything. they both defaulted to darkstar. i tried a basic install out of curiosity just before and it did ask me for the host name, and it had the same prompts as running netconfig from the terminal. so i think its getting skipped in the full install?

on a side note, when i was doing the basic install i forgot to create an extra user, and when i got to the login window i couldnt login as root, and couldnt work out how to get a terminal (although thinking now i probably had to choose something different with Lilo?). but maybe it should be mandatory to enter a user, which i remember debian install did.

ctrl+alt+F1 (or f2 to f6) to open a new terminal & ctrl+alt+f7 to bring you back to your X environment.

What really matters is where you are going, not where you come from.
