Midori possible MBR Screw-up

Post by Atip »

It must be now the 4th or 5th time that after downloading a file with Midori
my MBR is screwed-up. /dev/sda and all partitions on it cannot be found, therefore, I
cannot boot anymore. It took me this time quite a long to fix the problem
and swetting a lot in the process afraid I have lost all.

After finishing downloading with Midori suddenly Internet connection is
lost, fluxbox menu will not open and I am unable to reboot or halt. Then I
know I will have to go through the agony of recovery.

Does anybody have such an experience?

My solution is now to remove Midori for good since I forget the problem
on the next download, (age ). I was never a fan of it anyhow.

Midori has nothing to do with it. Your hard drive is going bad. Backup your data and replace it.

Thanks!
Got a new SATA drive and transfer of data from old IDE drive to new drive completed successfully.

Former SATA drive from Western Digital suddenly would not be recognized. That happened as well with my wife's HP netbook and WD HD. Djemos mentioned it as well with that company and now I met a friend who had the same problem. For us, never use again a drive from WD.
