Salix 13.0 - Installer does not working [Solved]

Hi All,

Thinking to be a good idea I have been removing my wonderful Salix 13.0.2a and I am trying to install the 13.0, but after "Locale" the installer does not working; after clicking on "Partition" nothing comes out.
The partitions for "Root" and "Swap" are already existing, even trying to use "GParted" from live cd nothing change.
Please, do you have any idea to solve this issue ? (I am sure that the ISO image is fine, because Md5 has match). Ciao

Wait. You removed your 13.0.2a installation, just to replace it with the live 13.0 installation? That makes no sense, as they are exactly the same thing, just installed using different means.

Anyway, for your problem, you might have found a bug in the installer. What kind of hard drives do you have? IDE, sata, mixed? What's the output of fdisk -l ?

Also can you verify if your partition gets correctly mounted by the LiveCD?
It should be in /mnt/hda1 or /mnt/sda1 if you have only one main partition.

Could you also report any eventual error messages from the installer if you launch it in command line?

I have been reading that on release 13.0 some small bugs was been fixed, for this reason I have been removing the 13.0.2a (which was perfectly working, indeed).
If we dont set up the installer's issue, I install again the 13.0.2a, still I have the ISO image
Now, these are the data about my machine:

Hi Sybelius,

You mean even if you try to get to the partition section of the installer (by clicking on the partition button), the terminal doesn't spew any eror message?

Also when you click on the partition button, do you get an empty pane or do you stay on the previous pane or does the installer sort of freeze?

Last but not least, can you give me the output of: parted /dev/sda print

BTW you didn't confirm whether all your Linux partition were correctly mounted in /mnt by the Livecd.

Hi Akuna,

Yes, I dont get any error message; I have been starting again the process from the 1st button. After setting "Locale", the following step is "Partition"; clicking on it does not coming out any error message too, comes out empty panel and on top something like "now starting installation in the confortable installer's environnement". (Please apologize me, I am not on cd live now and I am looking inside my mind about "now starting...etc."). Ciao

Also I am confirming you that all partition of mine are correctly mounted on /mnt, using the live cd.

Try editing the /usr/sbin/salix-live-installer.py file and in line 1742 change the hda5 with sda5
Launch the installer again, see if it helps.

Or you could simply download the latest svn version file: http://salix.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc ... staller.py

and overwrite /usr/sbin/salix-live-installer.py with it.

So I cloned your setup on one of my test machines here & even though I was not able to reproduce the exact same bug as you, still there definitely is a problem, it only shows me some of the partitions, not all of them.

EDIT: Yes, I found the bug that caused your problem! (It was related to the one above)
There should be a new version of the installer on SVN soon. Will let you know.
