isn't it possible to build Salix mate on Salix base (cli, without graphical environment)? so first base system, then mate plus login manager (lightdm?) to get also X.org (as dependency).

and what is wrong in lightdm (ok. there is no lightdm package in salix repo. gdm should be installed instead)? I used to built mete on Debian testing (years ago when trere was no mate in Debian repos). but maybe problems are not analogous?
