Firefox 3.6.6 crashes trying printing related actions
Re: Firefox 3.6.6 crashes trying printing related actions
The plot thickens. I found that printing also works with gnome-vfs installed, but with removing libgnome or libgnomeui...
Re: Firefox 3.6.6 crashes trying printing related actions
It also works if I remove libbonobo and/or libbonoboui.
Re: Firefox 3.6.6 crashes trying printing related actions
Is libbonobo part of Salix stock installation? I don't have it.
Anyway gigolo and stuff works perfectly also without gnome-vfs. I think becouse we have gvfs and, according with the gnome-vfs package description:
None that i use i think...

So, the next question is: which package REALLY require gnome-vfs?It has mostly been replaced by gvfs now, but some old applications that haven't been updated still require it.

No it isn't.oscar wrote:Is libbonobo part of Salix stock installation?
They are supposed to do the same job, but they are not the same thing. You can't just replace one with the other.oscar wrote:Anyway gigolo and stuff works perfectly also without gnome-vfs. I already gave you the list. But I think the real problem lies elsewhere, not in gnome-vfs.oscar wrote:So, the next question is: which package REALLY require gnome-vfs?

Re: Firefox 3.6.6 crashes trying printing related actions
I red somewhere in the past that the Slackware64 Firefox package is compiled from source, while the 32 bit one is just a repackage of the mozilla precompiled tarball. Could it be the reason why I don't suffer the problem on my stock Slackware64 install? Do u have a stock Slackware 32 bit to check it?
Plus: too few messages about this problem on linuxquestions... I think not many slackware users are affected...

Re: Firefox 3.6.6 crashes trying printing related actions
No, I have the problem in both 32-bit and 64-bit systems.
Re: Firefox 3.6.6 crashes trying printing related actions
Actually, removing any of the following packages seems to fix it.
What's even weirder is that going back to firefox 3.6.3, which worked fine before, also crashes!
Code: Select all
gnome-vfs
libgnome
libgnomeui
libbonobo
libbonoboui
GConf
ORBit2
Re: Firefox 3.6.6 crashes trying printing related actions
Just did a fresh salix installation in basic mode. Firefox 3.6.3 also crashes as soon as I install libgnomeui. Everything else seems to not affect it.
Re: Firefox 3.6.6 crashes trying printing related actions
Is libgnomeui included in full installation? If so, then it's more probable that the culprit is one of the latest slackware upgrades (imlib or cups or ghostscript) because I'm almost sure then last week everything worked just fine...
